FEATURED MEMBER PROJECT

Home of Chris Vogt and Meg Jastran

Designed by Todd Saddler and Cheryl Thompson

This house in Covert features a hybrid timber frame / double stud wall construction, built of locally-harvested lumber. The house was designed by the clients, with Todd and Cheryl functioning as midwives, ensuring that the finished product would meet the goals they identified.

 Timbers by Sarah Highland.

The cathedral ceiling / roof assembly has 2x12 rafters and 2x6 purlins for an 18" thick cavity filled with dense-packed cellulose, giving an effective R-value of 55.

Windows are located to maximize passive solar warming, daylighting, and views.

The interior finish work was done by Luke Bruckner. Reclaimed slate countertops were installed by IGBA’s Steve Paisley. Heat is provided by wood stove, and a ground source heat pump distributed to a radiant floor.
